'Colours are the smiles of nature' James Hunt 1854 - 'The world needs MORE colour' Waterwench©2001

The morning light spills across my workshop, turning jars of brushes and pots of colour into a quiet symphony. The hum of the world outside fades, and here in this space, I listen to the whispers of colour and the stories that shadows long to tell.

Dahut Creations was born on the sands of Maroubra Beach in 1978. It was there that I first became The Waterwench and embraced my love of all the arts. That stretch of coast is where I claimed my creative identity and began to translate the music and murmurs of my senses into living art.

Now, on the coast of the Indian Ocean, I continue that journey as The Waterwench, The Baird, and DMC. Authentic, untethered, and alive.

Every piece I create, every story I tell, is a weaving of all my heritages. The threads of my lineage, culture, and ancestral memory come together in colour, texture, and rhythm. My work celebrates these roots and speaks in dialogue with the land and sea that surround me.

Creative Practice

Every day, I step into my sanctuary and enter a world where colours sing and shapes murmur their textures. Paint and brush are only the beginning. I work with oils and beeswax, write and hum jaunty sea shanties, sketch playful marks, and bring life to the unexpected through unconventional materials.

My synaesthesia and pareidolia guide me. A streak of light across the wall might reveal a figure. A jumble of textures can spark an entire narrative. I do not aim to mirror the world. Instead, I seek to see beyond it and to let my senses lead me toward the stories waiting to be told.

In everything I craft and write, the spirit of my heritages whispers. The symbols, patterns, and echoes of my ancestry naturally flow into my work, creating layers of meaning that honour the cultures and memories that shaped me. In my workshops, I share this perceptual world, inviting others to slow down, notice the hidden patterns, and trust their creative instincts. I also encourage participants to weave their own heritage and stories into their art, deepening the meaning of every creation.

Healing Work

A new chapter in my journey has begun. I now use my embracing love of The Arts to assist with healing and therapy as a Holistic Arts Therapist. This practice combines my creative passions with a focus on emotional and spiritual wellbeing. Through painting, music, movement, and multi-sensory exploration, I guide others to release, reflect, and reconnect.

I also weave the history of The Arts into this healing journey, helping participants see themselves as part of a timeless creative heritage. Every session is a tapestry of my own heritages, enriched with sound, colour, and symbol, using cultural memory as a tool for transformation.

Art has always been alive to me. Now, it also serves as a profound pathway to wholeness and self-discovery. This work is about sharing the gift of creativity as a tool for transformation. It is a journey of seeing beyond the ordinary, listening to the music of the senses, and helping others heal through expression and imagination.
