Who...

I am Di. I am Waterwench©. I am The Baird. I am DMC. And I am Dahut Creations by Waterwench©, an intuitive artist, designer, creator, and teller of oral stories. Since 1978, I have painted, created, played, and experimented with acrylics, oils, watercolours, gouache, inks, and encaustics. For as long as I can remember, I have harnessed the healing power of art in all its forms and mediums to mend my own mind, body, and soul.

My work embraces a rich diversity of materials, honouring the Ancient Sacred Divine Feminine while weaving in symbolism, semi-precious gemstones, crystals, manufactured and found objects, and nature’s treasures from both land and sea. I rarely limit myself to a single medium; I delight in blending them, layering them, even setting them alight, before incorporating nature’s offerings and other curious fragments. Heating and transforming materials under flame, simply to witness what the fire and heat will leave behind, feels like an extension of my naturally curious, intuitive, and fearless spirit. That very essence is what I am most proud of.

What...

Dahut Creations by Waterwench© 1978 to Date.

My journey throughout the many decades has evolved in name only once since 1978 - we (Dahut, Waterwench©, The Baird & I) started as Waterwench Designs© in 1999 and after a tumultuous few decades, burnouts & setbacks - we rose from the ashes of all of this to become Dahut Creations by Waterwench©, because that is what I do - I CREATE. We rose back up, more determined than ever to guide others on their own creative adventures and cement in them that...

"WE ARE ALL CREATIVE BEINGS" DMC©1998

My mission is to provide affordable, original & unique one of a kind art, design and hand crafted items for all -  because I believe our world needs

MORE COLOUR.

At Dahut Creations by Waterwench© - I keep to my mission.

With an even more strengthened resolve to keep creating & providing affordable one-of-a-kind, unique, & original designs, artworks & quality products for ALL.

The resolve to keep adding more colour to our world since 1978 is here to stay and that is WHAT & WHO

Dahut Creations© by Waterwench© is.

Why...

I am a crazily curious artist, write and designer. Throughout my life I have always kept just about every sketch, scribble, painting and design I have done. Many I sold over the decades, but there are those that remain in our home and on our walls, only for us. Many visitors over the decades have seen these in person.

These art works and drawings are important records in colour (or not), of the many paths I have walked throughout my life.

Below are a few of them from my own private collection, I sometimes draw upon them for inspiration to design other artworks or graphics but the originals remain mine.

None of these artworks are for SALE

How...

I pour myself into my creations, using wax, oil paints, acrylics, and endless other mediums, while embedding semi-precious gems, crystals, shells, stones, and symbolic treasures. Each piece becomes deeply personal. My first journey with encaustics began in the early 1990s, and my admiration for this medium has never waned. Watching hot wax slowly melt is pure therapy. When I add rich oil paints, natural resins, crushed minerals, and shimmering mica powders into that magical pool, and then capture the visions from my inner mind while the wax is still liquid, it feels like a true gift from nature. I continue to teach this extraordinary medium to others, for I have realised that I do not simply paint; I create.

I often ponder the artworks that have left my hands over the decades. Each one carries a piece of my soul. Are they still loved and admired? Do they still hang proudly on the walls of the beings who first cherished them? If you have one, I would love to know.

Acrylics and oils have been my loyal companions for over fifty years. This is a love affair that has spanned a lifetime. Watercolours and I never quite aligned, but back in the 1970s I discovered that acrylic paints could become anything: a soft wash, a bold statement, or textured, vivid visions. Since 1978, my acrylic works have found new homes across the world, with the very first sold that same year. I have created countless pieces for the most diverse community of art lovers, often embracing same-sex and non-binary forms. With the arrival of H2O-based oils and luscious oil pastels, I now explore blending them with acrylics while playing with luminous fluorescents, radiant iridescences, and gleaming metallics. My fingertips remain permanently stained in colours far more delightful than any nail polish.

If you stumble upon this space and fall in love with a piece that has already sold, please reach out. My creations are never repeated or mass-produced. I can craft something in the spirit of what caught your eye, yet it will always be its own unique being.

Lets talk about...Encaustics

Why Encaustics?

Over the centuries since the Ancient Greeks began the encaustic use, the medium has come in and out of artistic fashion, with a resurgence of interest in the medium starting all over again now.

The richness of colour, the proven durability and colour fastness, as well as the myriad of supports that encaustic can be used on, has seen a rise in popularity once again. Working with nature’s gifts of beeswax and soy wax, castor wax, damar resin, and shellac is a pure joy. Add heat and fire, as well as a vivid curiosity to that pure joy, and for me, nirvana as an artist is achieved.

One of the oldest mediums still in use today, encaustics have seen a resurgence this century after living in the shadows of the master oil, acrylic, watercolour, and mixed medium artists.

Discovered by the Ancient Greek boat-building masters, perfected as an art medium and form by their artists, and then taught by these very artists to the ancient Egyptians, encaustic artworks have survived through millennia with very little colour fading or deterioration. Famous religious icon paintings were done using encaustics and survive to this very day.

The current encaustic, acrylic, and mixed medium artworks for sale are a mix of varying pieces that explore themes of myths and belonging and are very intuitive pieces. Most come with a written artist's statement.

About This Gallery

Embracing all that is me

Embracing all that is me

This gallery represents the hugely diverse group of what I lovingly refer to as my 'self portraits' - many have writings on them - some I simply drew with graphite pencil and put away.

When time allows I often pull that huge store of drawings out and decide if I am going to do more to them or with them or simply leave them as they originally were.

The advent of our amazing technology has meant I am able to scan all my originals, share them with other beings online  and then place them back into safe keeping.

Embracing all that is me

Embracing all that is me

Dahut Creations by Waterwench© began as a simple drawing - many scribbles on paper - the majority of these sketches have been safe kept - locked away and often forgotten about until I decide to sort stuff!

Every year on my birthday I have always drawn something that reflects who am am at that moment,

Each and every one of these self portraits  is about what I am feeling, seeing and facing during that time. Those who know me well can see within these self portraits the imagery and the meaning behind them.

My Body - My Canvas

A lot of what I have drawn or draw has ended up on my body as my own walking gallery - major milestones have been celebrated by having my birthday or birth year drawings - self portraits - just doodles- placed onto my body by a tattooist. I have many! I love my body art, each and every one holds meaning to me and I do not care if others don't or do see.

I truly do suffer for my ART!

I had spent many years designing one of a kind tattoo designs for a huge range of beings - I now only do so for family and myself.
